AL Licensing Board Fee Increase – Please Read

The Alabama Physical Therapy Licensing Board sent a letter to licensees on November 20, 2014 outlining fee increases.

Dear ALAPTA Members:

The Alabama Physical Therapy Licensing Board sent a letter to licensees on November 20, 2014 outlining fee increases (see below): Click HERE to access the full letter.

The fee increases most alarming to ALAPTA are:

License Renewal Fee:

Physical Therapist – $140 (effective March 15, 2015) – An Increase From $70
Physical Therapist Assistant – $100 (effective March 1, 2015) – An Increase From $50
Other fee increases include:

Verification of License to Another State – $25 (effective March 1, 2015)
License Reprint/Name Change – $25 (effective March 1, 2015)
Purchase of Licensee Mailing List – $75 per license classification (effective March 1,2015
License Application Fee – $150 (effective March 1, 2015)
Late Renewal Fee – $100 (effective March 1, 2015)
Temporary License for Students – $10 (effective March 1, 2015)

ALAPTA will send a formal letter to the Licensing Board on behalf of the Board of Directors as soon as possible, but no later than January 6, 2015, as we have been told this is the last day comments will be accepted.

Please click HERE to access a sample letter/e-mail that you can send to the Licensing Board. Feel free to modify the letter as you want to, but please be sure to sign your name/e-mail as the Board will not accept letters that do not have identification. We also encourage you to share this sample letter/e-mail with other PTs and PTAs you know and/or work with. The Board needs to hear from as many people as possible who oppose the rate increase. Please cc ALAPTA on your e-mails at Alabama@apta.org or send us a separate e-mail letting us know you have contacted the Board as we would like to track responses that are sent.
